Starting out in 1998 by providing environmental remediation services, GreenStreet of New York Inc. grew into a General Contracting firm that specialized in high-performance green building. Some of GreenStreet’s most notable leading-edge construction projects included: the Mark Twain House Education & Visitors Center which was the first LEED Certified Museum in the US; the townhouse at 126 Ft. Greene Place in Brooklyn which was the first green townhouse project in NYC; Marmaduke Forster House which was the first LEED Certified Office building in Westchester County, NY and the Green Canteen restaurant in Brooklyn, which was the first LEED Certified restaurant in NYS. As the next step in our growth and evolution, we included commercial Real Estate Listings, Development and Consulting services for the past 5 years with a focus on high-performance and innovative projects. The model for our Smart Building Program was to apply it to our own development projects to optimize their energy and financial performance while offering the program on a consulting basis to other Developers.

In 2019, NYC passed Local Law 97, otherwise known as the Climate Mobilization Act, which established aggressive carbon emission reduction mandates with stiff fines for noncompliance. As the most aggressive Carbon Emission reduction Law in NYC’s history, we determined that nothing short of a world-class Real Estate Innovation Hub was necessary to turn a massive legislative liability into a huge opportunity for Property Owners, Developers and Impact Investors.

Given the scope and complexity of LL97, GREENSTREETNYC created strategic partnerships with a select group of leading-edge energy and construction firms that would allow for a comprehensive turn-key solution to full compliance with the Law. Our partnerships include Constellation Energy that offers 100% off-balance sheet financing for all energy efficiency and clean power installations through their Efficiency Made Easy Program. And we have expanded our ability to provide a number of no-cost, no-obligation services to identify building-wide cost savings as an introduction to our Innovation Hub and its tremendous value proposition.

With a laser focus on Local Law 97 and the Cost-Free Compliance Program as the foundation of our value proposition, GREENSTREETNYC is building a Climate Innovation Hub where Property Owners, Leading-Edge Vendors and Impact Investors engage and collaborate. Along with the Compliance Program for current property owners, our Innovation Hub also includes a Vendor Network and Investor Portal. Our Investor Portal will include both NYC Real Estate Listings covered under LL97 and Vendor Pitchdecks. Buyers of our Real Estate Listings will benefit through the inclusion of our Compliance Program with the purchase of the property. Investors will have the opportunity to invest in both Real Estate and in the leading-edge Vendors who are working on our projects and seeking Equity. And finally, our ongoing Media Program will provide information and updates on LL97 along with interviews with our Vendors and Case Studies that we will follow through their progress of completion.
